Flowers In The City<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Garden Museum explores and celebrates the art, history and design of British gardens and their place in our lives today right in the heart of London.
Visitors will discover the stories of great gardeners through a permanent collection of artefacts and tools from gardening throughout history alongside botanical art, photography, and paintings exploring how and why we garden. Exhibitions, events, and community projects delve into art, architecture, plant science, food, sustainability, well-being and more, all through the lens of gardening.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Garden Museum is home to the Archive of Garden Design, which preserves and provides access to the working records of leading British garden designers of the 20th and 21st century.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Housed in the deconsecrated church of St Mary-at-Lambeth, the Garden Museum contains the burial place of John Tradescant, an early gardener and plant hunter. To preserve his tomb, the Garden Museum was founded by Rosemary Nicholson, an admirer of Tradescant, in 1977. At the heart of the Museum is a sheltered courtyard garden designed by Dan Pearson as an \u2018Eden\u2019 of rare plants.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Garden Museum\u2019s annual British Flowers Week exhibition returns Thursday June 8 \u2013 Monday June 12, championing British-grown flowers, sustainable floristry and the immense talent in floral design found across the country. Five florists hand-picked by the Garden Museum will build immersive floral installations around the museum, with the fresh scents and colours of British-grown blooms taking over the space for five days.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibiting floral designers \u2013 Botanical Tales, Lucy Vail Floristry, Mahal Kita Flowers, SAGE and Yinari \u2013 will create sculptural flower installations using seasonal, sustainably-sourced, British-grown flowers, arranged with environmentally friendly materials and methods. The installations will be designed specifically for the historic space and will interact with the Garden Museum\u2019s Grade II listed building, parts of which date back to the 14th<\/sup> century.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme for this year\u2019s exhibition is \u2018New Beginnings\u2019, inspired by fresh starts, budding new growth, changing seasons and an optimistic step forward for the floral industry. As well as being open to visitors during the day, the week will also include special events such as a panel talk with the exhibiting florists on Thursday June 8 hosted by royal florist Shane Connolly, and a Friday Late with music, drinks and activities on Friday June 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
